Slaves To The Machine

from the doing-the-dirty-work dept

Wired Magazine has an article saying that movies like Terminator and 2001 were wrong in thinking that computers will become so smart that they will get rid of humans. Instead, it will be more like The Matrix, where computers need humans for the dirty work. Basically, the idea is that humans are good at dealing with “messes” that confuse a computer. We’re basically, the writer claims, only good as a plug-in to solve the problems a computer screws up on. Of course, I look at this in a completely different light. To me, it means that the humans finally get away from the boring, repetitive jobs that no one wants, and lets them focus on more interesting, challenging, and brain-power required jobs. I don’t see how that’s a bad thing.
