Is Google Really Back In China?

from the partly dept

Well, the confusion continues. Following the news yesterday that Google was back online in China comes a report that it’s only partially back. People are saying that only some people have been able to gain access to the site, and most people have found that they don’t have access to Google’s cached sites (part of the assumed complaint by the Chinese government was that the Google cache would let people see sites that China had blocked). This article also predicts that a few months from now China will try to block Google again. Update: Even more on this sillyness. According to this article, a Chinese official has finally commented on the Google block, saying they never blocked Google, and any problems were probably due to normal network problems. Yeah. Right.
