Web Server Embedded On Bluetooth Chip

Cambridge Silicon Radio has designed a new BT chip that includes an embedded web server. The idea is that consumer electronics or home appliances with such a chip could be remote controlled via a web browser. I for one would love to be able to program my Tivo over the web. But BT seems like the wrong way to go for this application. With a range limited to 30 feet, setting up a home network with BT devices would require too many BT accesspoints (well, maybe not in NYC or most European cities). This seems like a better application for Wi-Fi, which is aleady being used for home networks. Wi-Fi chips currently cost more more than BT chips, but it’s just of a matter of time before the costs drop enough to include Wi-Fi into everthing.
