DVD Taking Over

from the quickly- dept

When DVDs were first coming out people weren’t sure how well they’d be accepted. However, it seems that everyone is going gaga for DVD, including the movie studios, who can’t put out DVDs fast enough, it seems (NYTimes registration blah blah). DVDs are cheaper to produce, are better quality, and offer much more to consumers. I’m almost surprised the entertainment industry hasn’t tried to ban them. However, all this has meant that DVDs are being picked up at record rates. It’s also making even more money for the industry because all the extra stuff means it’s more likely that consumers will buy, instead of rent, DVD movies.
