Companies Posting Scientific Bounties To Get Over Research Blocks

from the interesting-model dept

I’m sure people have mixed feelings on this one. It’s an article about a company (founded and funded by Eli Lilly) that let’s scientific research companies anonymously post problems they’re having with research. If you can figure out how to solve the problem, then the company pays out some cash award (from the article, it looks like the awards are all five figures). While I imagine some people will see this as a way for companies to get “cheap” research, I could see it being a great challenge for college students or others who like to dabble in scientific experiments.
