Unlimited Wireless Data

People seem pretty convinced the only way US consumer will jump into wireless data is with flat rate pricing, similar to what they have on their DSL and cable modems. Even US carriers are starting to believe this with most all offering some form of unlimited data. It seems inevitable, but the question is when. The stumbling blocks are network capacity and spectrum. Until carriers have enough of those two to support unlimited data without impacting voice capacity we’ll be limited to expensive plans. Our guess is that we’re 18 months from seeing affordable high-speed unlimited wireless access for laptops and PDAs.
