UK MP Wants To Blame ISPs For Spam

from the well,-we-have-to-blame-someone dept

You would think (wouldn’t you?) to become the chair of the parliamentary Internet Committee in the UK you would need to have some basic understanding of how the internet worked, right? Well, it appears MP, Derek Wyatt is a little confused, because he’s now saying that the UK should make ISPs responsible for all the porn spam their customers get. Certainly, most ISPs would absolutely love it if they could wipe out all spam (and not just the pornographic stuff), but it’s just not possible at this point. The calls to blame ISPs are simply looking for someone to blame, and instead of going after the real problem (the spammers themselves), it targets another victim – because they’re easily identifiable.
