Ellison Still Talking About National ID Database

from the clarify,-please dept

Apparently, the problems with Japan’s new national ID system haven’t deterred Larry Ellison from pushing his vision of an (Oracle-based, of course) federal ID database. He clarifies his position a bit, saying that he’s not suggesting we have a national ID card, but, rather take existing forms of ID and put them into a national database “where the FBI or some national police agency keeps track of all the people that we think are bad guys.” So, basically, he still is missing the point. Creating such a large database, again, creates a single point of failure and probably does more harm than good.
