Appeals Court To Hear Sex.com/VeriSign Appeal Today

from the getting-them-to-pay dept

The US Court of Appeals is scheduled to hear the appeal from Sex.com concerning whether or not VeriSign is liable for giving up their domain many years ago. We’ve been following this case for quite some time now, and this particular decision could go a long way in saying how much power VeriSign/Network Solutions has over domain name control. The case specifically looks at whether or not VeriSign is liable for damages for handing over Sex.com to someone who forged information without the actual permission of the domain’s owner. VeriSign has gotten away so far by saying they did nothing wrong.
