Senators Want To Reign In Snoopware

from the sounds-good dept

Two Senators have announced that they’re not comfortable with the government’s latest activities snooping on its own citizens. They want to establish a committee that will review government snooping activities to make sure they don’t conflict with Americans’ right to privacy. Of course, the first thing I think of when I hear of a 17 member commission is that it won’t be able to accomplish anything, other than hold a lot of boring meetings. I question how much clout/authority it would actually have.
