Strategy Analytics predicts that camera phones will outsell digital cameras by 2007. Touching on the MMS pricing story we posted yesterday, SA warns that while the camera phone may outsell digital cameras, service pricing will still be a big factor in getting subscribers to use camera related mobile services. Also, we doubt that camera phones will completely take over the consumer photography market. People will still want mega-pixel cameras that take high quality photos. Camera phones will be second cameras and will be popular with the youth market. Eventually high quality camera phones may take off in vertical markets such as insurance and health care.
