The U.S. Can Win in Wireless
Stewart Alsop talks about his boondoggle visit to Japan to check out all their funky mobile phones and see what’s really going on in that part of the world. He came back impressed – saying that (despite his assumptions) it’s not all hype. People there really are using their mobile phones like crazy. His other prediction, though, is that the US will be able to leapfrog both Japan and Europe in building a wireless future – since they both have too many legacy issues to deal with. He also says that the market will be chaotic (and already is in Japan) but US firms are used to dealing with chaotic markets.
