How Tech Companies Rank In Dependability, Reliability, And Customer Service

from the good-to-know dept

If you read Techdirt regularly, you’ve heard me complain about Dell. One of things I’ve told people is that in all the years I used Dell desktops, I never had a problem. It was only when I switched to a laptop that Dell convinced me never to buy from them again. The latest PC Magazine study about how people rate technology companies shows that Dell gets high marks for their desktop machines, but their laptops don’t make the list. For laptops, people were most pleased with Apple, HP, IBM and Toshiba (which is why I’m looking at getting a Thinkpad as my next laptop). For ISPs, it should suprise no one that AOL ranked last, with MSN a close second-to-last. The best ISPs were small, local shops.
