Putting The "Can You Hear Me Now" Guy Out Of Work

from the short-careers dept

A couple of months ago we had an article about the real “can you hear me now” guys who are out there testing the coverage of various wireless carriers. It seems that Lucent has come up with a technology that may put those guys out of work. The software is supposed to take all the information about an area, and mathematically determine the optimal set up of towers to get the best coverage. Of course, there’s a difference in theory and practice, and I think most people would agree that most mobile phone services could use a serious upgrade in coverage.
