Gamespot Download Manager Hides Spyware
from the oops dept
It appears that Gamespot is apparently putting spyware and digital rights management technology on the computers of anyone who uses their “Download Express” service. CNET, who owns Gamespot claims they’re not doing anything bad with it, but it does seem questionable – especially since it’s the same company that removed Kazaa from their download site after discovering that they had been installing spyware without telling people.

I was wndering when this would make the news. I started to download a game last week from Gamespot and I quit when it insisted I install their download manager. I didn’t even bother to read the fine print, it was blindingly obvious to me the download manager would be spyware.
