What's Left Of DrKoop Violating Own Privacy Policy

from the opt-in,-opt-out,-what's-the-difference? dept

Once again, a desperate company with no thoughts of what it’s told its customers in the past is going to force them to receive spam. The remnants of Drkoop.com have been sold off to some other health website, which has announced that unless users “opt out” they’re fair game to be spammed (or possibly sold to other advertisers). This does seem to violate the official privacy policy Drkoop.com put up for people who signed up with them, which reads (in part) “Personally identifiable information provided by visitors (name, e-mail or home address, etc.) will not be disclosed to anyone unless visitors indicate that drkoop.com may do so.” So much for honesty.
