Hacker Found Guilty Of Spamming
from the get-the-terms-straight dept
Well, it’s not a traditional spamming case, but someone has been found guilty of sending out thousands of emails. The story though, isn’t so much about spamming as it is about hacking. A former employee of a company found out his new employer was about to be taken over by that former company. He decided to prevent that from happening by hacking into his former employer’s computers, and having them send out thousands of email messages, thus bringing down their servers. I think it’s a bit of a stretch to call it a spamming case. Of course, the best part is the guy’s defense: he claims he was just a “whistle blower” sending messages to people warning them about how bad the company was. That argument was thrown out when it was discovered that 1,900 of the “spam” messages went directly to the guys own email address.

OK, this is going to sound corny, but what if this story were about a spammer found guilty of hacking?
