Technology And Summer Camp

from the not-so-perfect-together dept

I went to summer camp in a time before mobile phones, but I’m so connected to mine now that I can understand kids who are upset to leave their mobile phones home while they go off to summer camp. It seems most traditional summer camps are trying to get kids to leave their gadgets behind, but many do allow them a regular (but limited) technology fix, just to email Mom and Dad about how life is out in the wilderness. Of course, for others, summer camp is a better way to get connected to their technology obsession, as more and more computer summer camps are popping up. While I can understand the appeal, I kind of remember the whole point of summer camp being to enjoy the outdoors…
