Nokia in Transition

Despite the gloom for handset makers, Nokia seems to be making the best of it. In their latest quarterly update Nokia said that handset sales were up but at the lower end of the spectrum. They don’t expect sales of higher-end models to pick up till they launch new products. Analysts are curious as to how Nokia is maintaining their 20% margins with the shift in sales to lower priced handsets. They are also concerned that Nokia is losing high end customers to Samsung. Some of the blame could like in the fact that compared to other handset makers Nokia seems to be very slow in getting products to market. This needs to change if they want to maintain their high market share.
