Wireless IM with Location Info
SMS is great, but it lacks the presence information of IM services. Personally, I’d like to know if the person I’m about to message is available. In the long run SMS and IM should just merge. We’re getting closer to this idea as IM makes it ways to phones and integrates with the phone’s location capabilities. Location is a tricky sell to customers as they are concerned about privacy issues. But messaging with location and presense info could be a hot service for kids. Don’t limit these services to the high-end phones, get it out on the pre-paid phones ASAP.
