from the it-ain't-easy dept

The first rule of deciding whether or not a new technology company has a chance is looking at the likelihood of it ever competiting against Microsoft. However, despite the common wisdom that Microsoft entering your market is certain death, there are some companies that have consistently managed to stay ahead of Microsoft and Business 2.0 takes a look at how companies beat Bill Gates. Actually, they start out by looking at three companies that are currently fighting Microsoft in ways that they are likely to lose (Palm, AOL, and Sony) and then looks at three success stories (Intuit, Liberate, and Real Networks).
