The Coming Cyber War

from the be-afraid dept

OSOpinion has an opinion on the chances of a huge cyberwar showing up on our virtual doorsteps in the near future. The article discusses “asymmetric warfare”, where a single individual with a laptop can cause a tremendous amount of damage. The rest of the article is basically just fear-mongering; telling us how easy it is to start a cyberwar and just how unprepared the US is for such a thing. I’m not trying to downplay the risk (or even the likelihood of such an event). However, the article doesn’t seem designed to help at all, but simply to make everyone afraid. I’m not sure what good this does. I’d much prefer an article that has some positive suggestions (at least) about what we can do to better protect ourselves, rather than just telling us how badly we’re doomed.
