IM Marketing

from the uh-oh,-watch-out dept

The marketers are coming to IM. Not that this is particulary surprising, but it is somewhat amusing reading an article of a marketer struggling with how to spam IM users without it seeming like spam. I think he actually makes a really good point at the beginning, talking about the importance of “neighboring” – where people who move to a new area ask their neighbors for the best local restaurants, stores, services, etc. People trust other people. They don’t trust marketers (partly because marketers don’t have a very strong reputation for really looking out for anyone’s best interests other than their own).
