Ending The Broadband Ripoff

from the more-fighting dept

Here’s an opinion piece about whether or not the the government should help regulate the cable broadband industry. There has been a lot of debate on this subject, and I’ve seen some good arguments on both sides. However, I’m not convinced that what this guy writes is accurate. He makes it sound as though the 1996 Telecommunications Act was a huge success – when I’ve seen plenty that has said it was anything but that. While there is now, finally, some local phone service competition, it took years of kicking and screaming before we got anywhere near that.
