Tech Support On Wheels
from the house-calls dept
The NY Times talks about how computer repair people doing house calls are becoming more and more popular. While some companies have tried to do this in the past and failed, suddenly the demand for a geek-on-wheels to show up and fix a computer is growing. Hopefully this means less frantic phone calls to those of us with some knowledge of how computers work from random people we barely know. “Oh, you know computers. My cousin’s roommate’s brother can’t get his Windows machine to start up properly…”

“…suddenly the demand for a geek-on-wheels to show up and fix a computer is growing.”
Gee, could it be the growing number of all those “easiest to use, most stable and secure versions ever” of Windows?
Home based businesses
Maybe the increase in geek-on-wheels has to do with an increase in home based and small office business.
It may be easier to pay for a house/in-office call than to detangle the morass of cables on the computer desk and drag the CPU down tothe geek in a shop.
