SMS Peaking Soon

from the and-we-haven't-even-gotten-it-yet dept

Here in the US, wireless carriers are finally getting around to introducing SMS-style text messaging for mobile phones, but over in Europe (of course) it’s been a big money maker for quite some time. Now, here comes Forrester to suggest that SMS won’t be a big money maker for long. Revenue from text messaging will go up for a couple of years, but then begin to stagnate and possibly fall as other messaging technologies take over. These competitive messaging technologies will force the price of messaging products to fall, leading to less revenue.
