Carly's Voicemail Not A Smoking Gun

from the calm-down,-calm-down dept

I’ve been reading the thousand or so articles going around today concerning Carly Fiorina’s voicemail message suggesting that HP might need to do “something extraordinary” to make certain investors vote in favor of the merger. I couldn’t really see what the big deal is. It seems that most people are over reacting, and the voice mail is no “smoking gun” proving that HP did anything illegal. It all depends on how you interpret it – and it’s pretty easy to interpret the conversation as being completely legitimate. All she is saying is that if they need to convince these investors, they’ll have to put on quite a show. At least, that’s exactly what she will say about it – and since it’s perfectly reasonable to believe that explanation, I don’t see how the voice mail is “proof” of anything.
