Microsoft Realizes That Silicon Valley Workers Are Thankful To Keep Their Jobs

from the pay-cuts-all-around dept

If you happen to be a Silicon Valley Microsoft employee, you just got a pay cut. Microsoft had been offering certain “geographic differential” payments for areas where they were having a particularly difficult time keeping employees. The worst of those areas was here in the Bay Area. Originally, they offered a 15% bump on base salary, and when that wasn’t working they pushed it up to 25%. However, now that anyone who has a job is desperate to keep that job, they’re pushing it back down to 15%. Go ahead and quit. They dare you. You’ll just end up at some startup that they’ll crush anyway.
