Tech Toys? Too Expensive

from the not-worth-it-any-more dept

Remember when we were all going to have computer powered toys that could do everything (and connect to the internet when we weren’t around to learn even more things they could do)? Well, put off that vision for a while. It seems that this year’s technology pavilion at the American International Toy Fair wasn’t very well attended. Intel, who had been big promoters of the space are now saying they don’t see how to make money off of it. Sony, who is still hyping it’s Aibo said the “timing wasn’t right” for this year’s show (what, they had to wash their hair?). Anyway, the most basic explanation (and the most obvious) comes near the bottom of the article. People don’t want to spend $1,000 on their toys. Especially when it’s likely that your kid will break and/or get bored with them within the first week.
