Google Takes Over Earthlink Searches From Overture

from the good-for-them dept

The more cynical among you will say this is simply a business deal, because Google was offering a better deal than Overture, but I’d like to think that Earthlink realized that people prefer good search results over advertisements – and have switched to Google-powered searches over paid-placement king Overture. Of course, the article makes it out as if this is a battle between paid-placement and algorithmic search – but I doubt it. I think Earthlink was simply looking for the best search results, and that’s what Google gives its users. The article also makes a big deal out of Google’s AdWords technology, but I don’t see how that’s all that important.
