Don't Buy The Hype About Web Services

from the too-much-already dept

We’ve complained over and over again that there’s way too much hype about the idea of “web services” and no one seems to even know what they are let alone what they can do for a business. Business 2.0 has an article comparing it to when everyone was talking about Java five years ago. It was huge. It was going to change the world. And, everyone expected it to happen over night. The reality is that change takes time. And, the really useful aspects of web services probably aren’t that sexy or hype worthy. So, don’t buy into all the hype, but don’t completely trash the idea of web services either. Just don’t expect them to be all excitement, all the time.
