AskJeeves To Buy Octopus

from the expanding... dept

I always liked the idea behind what Octopus was creating, but found that it was way too buggy when I tried to use it. Other sites that were less feature rich and simpler seemed to accomplish the same sort of thing with less hassle (and less crashing). Now, AskJeeves, who seems desperate to find anyway to make some money is buying Octopus in order to expand their services. It’s not particularly clear to me how this fits in with AskJeeves, though the article does try to explain it somewhat. You get the feeling that AskJeeves is getting more desperate to expand into new areas. Anyway, I’m a bit confused because I just looked at Octopus.com and it appears to be part of Yahoo!. I’m not sure what happened to the old Octopus.
