30 Years Of Email

from the celebrate-by-sending-an-email dept

The NY Times has a set of articles about the 30th anniversary of email, including a short history of how email was developed and changed over the years. They also have an interview with Ray Tomlinson, the creator of email (the interview was done over email, of course). He admits that the first email was sent to himself, from one machine to another, sitting right next to each other. There’s also an article about how email will make the fax machine obsolete. I see where they’re coming from, but I’ve been hearing the same thing for at least five years now – and faxes still seem pretty popular.
