Google Users Can Vote On Pages

from the a-new-battle-begins dept

Google is apparently experimenting with letting users click on smiley or frowning face to indicate whether or not a page they found through a search is a good result. The idea is to get rid of people who try to “optimize” their sites for Google searches and employ all sorts of tricks to move themselves to the top. Of course, this just brings up a whole new set of ways for people to move themselves up the chart (and to force others down). I’m sure Google has thought some of this through, but it will be interesting to watch how people adjust to the new system (if Google ever gets it past the test phase).
