Telecom Entrepreneur Wants To Go Back To Afghanistan

from the too-good-to-be-true dept

This one is just bizarre. A NY Times article about a guy from New Jersey who helped set up a wireless company in Afghanistan in the late 90s and now wants to go back. He tells quite a colorful story about his life, involving the CIA, anti-terrorist covert ops, as well as “living the life of a playboy” in Southern Spain. Not everyone believes his stories, but there’s some evidence that at least some of them are true. Right now, though, he sees the chance to help revitalize Afghanistan’s communications infrastructure, while getting a steady paycheck – which apparently is something he needs. Currently, he works part time for a company that helps get rid of geese from corporate campuses.
