The Future Of Ideas
from the less-regulation,-more-innovation dept
Salon is running a very good review of the latest Lawrence Lessig book (entitled The Future of Ideas: The Fate of the Commons in a Connected World), in which he discusses current intellectual property laws – and why continued efforts to make them stronger will only hurt our freedom and prosperity. It certainly sounds like an interesting book. He lays out the arguments carefully and discusses why the current theories on copyright laws (supported mainly by the copyright holders) are antiquated and miss the point. He (thankfully) also suggests some ways in which we should improve on intellectual property laws. Now, hopefully, someone will actually listen.
