Continental Pulls Web Commissions

from the more-pain-for-online-travel-sites dept

Continental Airlines has decided that they will no longer pay commissions for tickets purchased online. I’d guess they’re doing so in order to cut back on costs. However, the only real effect is that online travel sites will simply bump up the cost of Continental tickets – effectively reinstating the “commission”, but making sure that fewer people fly Continental (since the tickets will be more expensive). I’m not sure that’s the smartest plan right now when all the airlines are trying to encourage people to get back to flying.
