A New Wine Dot Com?
from the what-were-they-drinking? dept
We’ve talked about the various sagas of the various wine dot coms (amazingly, all 3 of the major wine dot coms got to use the domain “wine.com” at some point). For the most part, the original wine.com and wineshopper.com were considered huge, painful failures. So, it’s a bit of a surprise that many of the folks behind them are trying again. That’s right. Kleiner Perkins and Sand Hill Ventures (who backed the “original” wine.com or wineshopper.com) are trying again with New Vine Logistics – with a bunch of the wine.com and wineshopper.com employees and intellectual property. So, despite screwing up twice before, they seem to think “third time’s a charm”. Others are less sure. Not the least among the doubters is the current Wine.com (in the article, they’re mistakenly called eVineyard – which is their old name). So, what happens when you fail with the same idea three times?
