People Hate Microsoft's New Licensing Scheme

from the well,-duh dept

It’s not really that surprising, but most people don’t like Microsoft’s new licensing scheme because it’s likely to make them pay more. The new plan, if you hadn’t been following the outraged screams of IT managers, more or less forces you to upgrade more regularly than most companies do. The end result is that Microsoft gets more money. 36% of those surveyed said they would consider alternative software products – but how many of them actually will is another question. Microsoft’s response is that everyone but them is stupid. They say that people just don’t understand the benefits of the new licensing policy. Sure, we understand the benefits. The benefits are that Microsoft gets more money.
