Why Steal Computers When Companies Are Giving Them Away?

from the companies-help-out-in-thefts dept

Last week we talked about how employees that have been laid off from bankrupt dot coms are walking out the door with computers and other assets. Of course, it turns out that in many cases, the companies themselves are telling employees to take their computers and cell phones instead of offering severance. Of course, they’re not really allowed to do that, and the bankruptcy creditors might get a little annoyed, but there’s not much they can do about it. Most employees, though, would prefer a severance package over their crappy laptop computer anyway.
