Experts Disappointed, Industry Happy With Copyright Office's Opinion Of The DMCA

from the morons dept

Yesterday the U.S. Copyright Office put out a report saying that there really wasn’t much wrong with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) – showing just how incredibly clueless they are. I wasn’t sure what to write about the story, so I didn’t post it (figuring the folks at Slashdot would have a fun time with it instead). The folks over at Salon, however, went out and asked a bunch of experts what they thought about the report. Everyone is disappointed because it was very clear that the Copyright Office really has no clue what they’re talking about. Actually, everyone except for the representatives from the recording industry and the movie industry. It really amazes me that people from those industries can talk about this stuff with a straight face.
