Downturn Bargains On Nannies

So, while it’s fun to talk about collapsing dot coms and increasing layoffs, it seems that things are getting easier (and cheaper) for those folks who still have jobs. The San Jose Merc is demonstrating this by letting us know the spot price on Nannies. I never knew that the cost of a nanny was an accurate reflection of the times in Silicon Valley, but for those of you who need to know such things, you can hire a nanny from a larger applicant pool for about $5 less an hour than last year. The article also talks about cheaper restaurants and hotels, which might be of more interest. Of course, the article doesn’t seem to mention the plight of the poor nanny who now needs to get by on less income…
