People have been talking about home automation and “smart homes” for years, but only the geekiest of geeks (oh, come on, admit it – you know who you are) have gotten really involved with automating stuff in their house. Now, however, the biggest source of home automation systems may be the folks who sell you your home security system (a NY Times article, so you don’t click if you have irrational fears of registration required sites). Now all those people who are refusing to buy x10 devices (thanks to their lovely pop up ads) can just get the home automation system of their dreams installed by professionals (though, where’s the fun in that?).
