VisuaLABS Technology A Hoax

from the oops dept

It seems that VisuaLABS, a Canadian company claiming to make a new type of television that would allow people to see things in 3D was a huge hoax. Their prototype was simply a slightly modified plasma TV set bought at a local electronics store (with company money). Now, the scary part is that it seems this was all the work of the self-described “mad scientist” founder and CEO of the company – who has now been fired by the board. What I want to know is (1) what the rest of the people in the company were doing all this time that they didn’t realize this and (2) how they got a quote out of a real live customer for their non-product?
