Net Blackout

Apparently, Cable & Wireless cut off their peering agreement with PSINet, meaning that PSINet customers couldn’t see anything hosted by Cable & Wireless – or get emails to them for a few days. Basically, it was a partial net blackout. The article explains that this sort of situation could happen more often, fracturing the net – since there’s no reason why any company has to agree to peer with any other company.
