Anyone Notice Online Radio Stations Turning Off?

from the nope dept

There have been a few news stories about how many radio stations were recently forced to pull their online broadcasts from the internet after some groups got mad they weren’t getting paid extra for commercials that were airing online. It turns out though, that most people haven’t noticed the missing online radio stations are are simply tuning in to something else – since there are so many online radio stations out there. At the same time, those stations that went off the air will soon be back, without the commercials. So, it appears that the angry protest from the the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists didn’t do much good for those television and radio artists. Update: Now comes news of a study saying that fewere people have been listening to online radio due to the cut off.
