Innovation Gets Practical… And Boring

from the who-wants-practical? dept

An article complaining about how tech jobs that used to be creative and fun have now gotten practical and boring. Companies are trying to build systems that work, and which people will pay for. So, cool and fun is out, practical and boring is in. Those who were working on cool and innovative stuff are pissed off. I can understand this, but then again, it would be somewhat nice if all the crap they rushed out the door over the past five years actually worked. Sometimes practical and boring is useful. Cool and innovative will still be around – and will be much cooler and innovative when it’s based on other technologies that actually work.
