Layoffs Hard On Those Left Behind
from the the-uncertainty-factor dept
Thomas Stewart’s latest column talks about the effect of layoffs on those left behind. While it obviously sucks to be laid off, it’s troublesome for the people who are still at the companies (both management and rank-and-file) as well. It hurts morale. It makes the job less fun. It makes the focus very different (tearing down, rather than building up). He has some suggestions for managers who find they have to layoff people as well.
