Balking At Pay Webcasts

from the shouldn't-do-it dept

I’ve already spoken twice about why I don’t like Major League Baseball’s decision to start charging for streaming audio, but I was having trouble articulating exactly why I felt that way. Someone else has done it for me, however. Here’s an excellent explanation for why charging for games is silly. It doesn’t really add any additional value. It makes things more complicated for the fans, and immediately kills off a great channel that MLB could have used to have done something innovative and useful. I’d also mention that in my first two attempts at listening to games over the new MLB system I’ve had nothing but technical problems. You would think they would have prepared a little more carefully.
