Truants To Be Reported To Parents Via SMS

from the can't-hide-now dept

Students in Singapore may have a bit more trouble sneaking out of school these days. They’re installing a new system, so if a student is truant, their parents are automatically notified by a text message on their mobile phone. The parent can then respond with preset messages saying they didn’t know the student wasn’t there, or giving a range of reasons for the absence. Of course, any smart student will figure out a way to get those messages sent to his or her own phone instead, and be able to excuse himself or herself whenever they want.
